After deeply studying some precedent I came out with a program (dream list) for my boutique hotel that can later be edited depending on the need and priority
Hello, Yerina. Very nice boards and graphics, as always! This looks like a good starting point in establishing the sizes of different spaces and the relationships between them. One thing that is not clear to me from the above is if you have anything in mind regarding the number of rooms in your hotel? And if yes, how did you reach that number (a rather “unfair” question since this is not something that an architect will ever decide upon on her / his own)? I am raising this point because the number of rooms can affect the square footage of several other spaces as well as the overall size of the project. If I am not mistaken - please correct me if I am wrong - there are no other hotels in the vicinity. If this is the case then your design problem could be even more challenging as you may have to think about who will be the users in this hotel, why will they want to go there, how do they get there etc? At some point you will have to consider how the above program relates to the actual site you are designing for and that could change some things, but I think that you are already aware of this. Imho opportunities exist everywhere and for this reason I very much agree with your decision to keep the above program flexible and open to adjustments as necessary. Best Regards Phanos
Greetings, Thank you for your insight. I am actually considering the numbers of rooms and have a book for reference. You are correct: there are no hotels in the area and it is a challenge since I have to make it work and sell my ideas. Nevertheless, this is a place that people go to during the weekends and make a lot of activities to do and its really easy to get there (by bus). Those are things to keep in mind. Red Hook might be desolated during the week days, but its so much alive in the weekends. As for who or why, the who might be tourists and the why, the historic value.
